Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice

Save the date for the 2026 Injury-Free NC Harm Reduction Academy!
Injury-Free NC, a collaboration between the North Carolina Division of Public Health Injury and Violence Prevention Branch and the University of North Carolina’s Injury Prevention Research Center, is preparing to launch our 2026 Injury-Free NC Academy on Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice.
The purpose of this Academy is to provide training to community-based organizations, local health departments, coalitions, and individuals who are planning or have taken steps to establish an overdose prevention or harm reduction program or want to learn more about harm reduction principles and how to incorporate them into overdose prevention work.
This Academy will take place in two parts. Participants will first attend 2 in person training days followed by 2 virtual training days the following week.
To help inform our planning process, we are asking individuals to complete a brief interest survey by Monday December 8th about your interest and ability to attend (tentatively planned to be hosted in Fayetteville, NC and Boone, NC).
For questions, email the Harm Reduction Academy Planning Team at HarmReductionAcademy@unc.edu
