The 2025 Injury-Free NC Academy on Harm Reduction as Transformative Practice focuses on moving from theory to practice and implementing a variety of harm reduction programs to serve people who use drugs (PWUD). The purpose of this Academy is to work with community-based organizations, local health departments, coalitions, and individuals who want to learn more about harm reduction principles and how to incorporate them into overdose prevention work.

This Academy will take place in two parts, two days that will take place in-person and two that will take place virtually. The sessions are scheduled as followed:

Pembroke Academy dates:

In-Person Session: May 1 & 2, 2025
Virtual Session: May 6 & 7, 2025
Location: Pembroke, NC

Winston-Salem Academy dates:

In-Person Session: July 10 & 11, 2025
Virtual Session: July 15 & 16, 2025
Location: Winston-Salem, NC

The application deadline is 5pm on January 29, 2025.

The in-person component is subject to change based on public health guidance. Health and safety guidelines will be followed for all in-person gatherings. Organizers will notify Academy participants if any changes are made.
