In 2020, the North Carolina Division of Public Health Injury and Violence Prevention Branch (NC IVPB) received inaugural funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a Comprehensive Suicide Prevention (CSP) program. This grant aims to address family, community, and societal issues that contribute to suicide through data-informed prevention strategies.

The University of North Carolina Injury Prevention Research Center (IPRC) is collaborating with NC IVPB to build statewide capacity for suicide prevention among injury and violence prevention practitioners through programs and activities including the Injury-Free NC Academy and the Comprehensive Suicide Prevention Advisory Council.
